Virginia Correctional Enterprises (VCE) was established by the General Assembly over 75 years ago as a work program to produce goods and services for agencies of the Commonwealth.
VCE is not supported by General funds but rather by the monies retained from the sale of these products and services. VCE provides work opportunities and skill learning programs for offenders incarcerated within the Department of Corrections.
These skills and work ethic are transferable to society upon release and have proven helpful in reducing the rate of recidivism. All tax supported agencies and non-profit entities are authorized to purchase these goods and services.
