VCE Selected to Furnish State Park Cabins
In conjunction with their 70th anniversary celebration, Virginia State Parks has selected VCE to supply all furnishings for 53 new cabins being constructed through out the “Nation’s #1 Ranked State Park System.” When the additional cabins have been completed later this year, more than 260 units will be available to the public from overnight rentals to multi-week rentals.
To meet the challenge of this aggressive construction schedule, VCE was called upon to design and manufacture an entirely new line furniture that would be comfortable, durable and functional, while complimenting the beautiful natural settings for these cabins. Working on a tight timetable, VCE’s Interior Design staff, along with wood production management from Greensville, Nottoway and Lunenburg Correctional Centers, focused their creativity and energy on a unique collection of Mission- style furniture ideally suited to the project.
Taking cues from the Craftsman-style furniture movement of the 1930’s, the VCE team successfully achieved every goal required by the client. As you can see from the recent photo taken at Claytor Lake State Park, the “Mission Collection” includes sofas, side chairs, ottomans, coffee and end tables. In the bedrooms and other parts of the cabins, you will find bunk and queen – sized beds, dressers, chests, dining tables, desks, even porch rockers and coat racks.
Since 1936, when Virginia opened its first six state parks, these locations have remained a favorite for the young and the young at heart. Last year, more than 7million visitors took advantage of these outstanding facilities. With the addition of these 53 new cabins, even more citizens of the Commonwealth will have the opportunity to savor the natural splendor of Virginia. VCE is proud to say that “Mission Collection,” designed and manufactured in our facilities, will help to make the State Park experience memorable for many years to come.
